In May, CROPINNO team visited the University of Rostock to participate in a training focused on the management of EU-funded projects. The training covered the entire project cycle—from the application process, presented by Dr. Lois Woestman, to financial reporting, explained by Lisa Hirschberger.

The University of Rostock demonstrated its excellent Document Management System (DMS), which allows comprehensive tracking of national and international projects. The system provides detailed analytics, from funding sources down to individual work packages, storing all related documentation in digital form—ranging from procurement contracts to travel documentation.

The team also visited the International House, where Dr. Uta Buttkewitz introduced the university’s services related to student and staff mobility, including Erasmus+ and DAAD exchange programs.

Our team also visited the Institute of Biological Sciences, home to our hosts Prof. Dr. Renate Horn and Malin Alf. The visit included an overview of the institute’s research activities within the CROPINNO project, as well as insights into their internal procurement procedures for project implementation. Additionally, the group visited the University Archive and the Graduate Academy, where Sara Schiemann presented the university’s support programs for postgraduate training and skills development.

This visit to the University of Rostock was a valuable opportunity for sharing experiences and exchanging ideas on project management, particularly in the area of document and workflow management.
