The Centre of Excellence – Climate Crops Centre is established within CROPINNO project, creating conditions for positioning of IFVCNS as a regional hub of R&I in Breeding of Climate-Resilient Crops.

The main objective of the research within the Centre of Excellence for Innovations in Breeding of Climate-Resilient Crops is creating new genotypes of field plants with tolerance to stressful conditions caused by climate change through the implementation of basic and applied research in Biotechnical Sciences. In order to respond to the demands and requirements of end-users and ensure efficient technology transfer, the Centre uses an interdisciplinary approach and experiences of researchers working in different fields and on different plant species. In addition, the Centre through the implementation of national and international projects with partners from science and economy further promotes interaction with potential users of technology, but also with the wider scientific and social community.

This Centre will open new opportunities for IFVCNS and the CROPINNO Consortium, as it will be enlarged with members from relevant sectors, bringing together interdisciplinary expertise, to apply innovative approaches in climate-resilient crop improvement, fostering innovation and partnerships with the farmers and industry.
